Falling is the number one cause of death in the construction industry. Rig Safety has many fall protection training programs to help keep your employees safer on the jobsite!
Here is our current class list. Being new to this market, we don't offer open classes at this time, but they will be coming soon. If you need a class that isn't on this list, call or message us, if we can't help, we can aim you toward someone who can.
Live courses with live instructors, hosted by RIG or at your facility for groups of 8 or more
10-hour OSHA class training teaches basic safety and health to entry level workers in construction
30-hour OSHA class prepares workers, managers, and employers to recognize, avoid, abate, and prevent health and safety hazards commonly encountered on construction jobsites. The knowledge obtained from this class combined with effective consulting services will provide a huge step forward to your goal of running a safe jobsite.
Instruction to the competent person level in specific construction disciplines. Most of these courses are also available at a user or awareness level course.
A one day course providing instruction on identifying need and providing proper engineered and personal fall protection, including simple and complex guardrail systems, fit testing, personal fall arrest systems, and anchor point selection and creation.
Every scaffold build must be inspected by a competent person prior to each work shift. This course provides the instruction to act in this capacity as well as to understand the basics of scaffold erection and dismantling, fall protection requirements, and safe work practices while operating on scaffolding.
Working from suspended scaffolding is statistically safer than working from a ladder, so long as the scaffold is installed, inspected, and used correctly. However, the life hazard is far greater given the heights involved. This course offers instruction on swing stage and Mast Climber types of suspended scaffolds, including proper outrigger setup, anchorage, safe usage, component inspection, and function testing.
A course to train to the competent person level for confined space entry and operations. This course also provides instruction on how to function safely in 3 of the 4 positions required to make permit required confined space entry: Entrant, attendant, and entry supervisor. The 4th position is rescue personnel, which is beyond the scope of this course.
A one day course teaching to competent person level trench and excavation safety. Topics covered include OSHA standards regarding safety and health aspects of excavation and trenching, soil mechanics and classification, various types of shoring, sloping, benching, and other protective systems for excavation operations.
This class instructs students on basic crane rigging and related safety procedures. We cover proper equipment, inspection procedures, recognizing unsafe conditions, load calculation, center of gravity and balance points, and communications. It is not a certified rigger course, but it will certify students to function as a signaler.
An awareness level hazmat course focused on hazardous substances commonly encountered in construction, such as fuels, flammable gasses, silica, lead, asbestos, and methylenedianiline (MDA), how to properly use, handle, and store them, and how to recognize and respond to a hazmat incident. This class can also be modified for general industry or other custom applications.
This particular course is exclusive to RIG, as John wrote and developed it from the ground up. It covers high angle rope systems, working from bosun or boatswain chairs or seat harnesses. Instruction on proper anchorage, knots, safety (belay) systems, self rescue, and buddy rescue.
This is another exclusive course developed by John to address 29CFR 1926.502(d)20: The employer shall provide for prompt rescue of employees in the event of a fall or shall assure that employees are able to rescue themselves. This class teaches basic self rescue techniques and procedures that enable students to safely affect a simple rescue of a worker suspended from a safety rope after a fall.
First aid, CPR, AED training and certification through the American Heart Association, including the Heartsaver Total, which includes modules on more likely jobsite scenarios, like bleeding control, bandaging, splints and slings, etc.
Forklift licenses and boom lift training certifications are required by law to operate on a jobsite. Other common jobsite equipment doesn't have legal restrictions, but requiring only certified equipment operators to run equipment on your job site greatly increases safety and reduces liability in the event of an incident.
Although class 7 rough terrain forklifts are by far the most common license requested in construction, RIG is qualified to certify in all 7 forklift classes.
MEWP training is required for boom lift operators, passengers, and supervisors on a jobsite (ANSI A92.24, adopted by OSHA).
Although OSHA doesn't require safety training certification for scissor lifts, many general contractors do. We can provide that for you.
We also offer toolbox talks and safety meetings on your jobsite with periodic inspection packages.
If you have any education needs that aren't listed here, call anyway, we may be able to help!
